supeRdisco

for the fifth installment of Superdisco at Salon Konetzny, a 50cm Discoball was 3D-mapped in Touchdesigner.

Two opposing projectors were aimed at the ball and a custom Touchdesigner script controlled the content and output management.

We created two projection modes:

In room-mode, a digital (video-)texture could be placed onto the walls of the room. This texture would then be warped to be projected onto these walls via the reflections of the disco ball. This enabled effects like moving line on the walls or separation the room into two colors.

In ball-mode, the texture was placed on the ball itself instead of the walls. This made for cleaner effects on the disco ball, allowing effects like rotating the ball.
